    Research

Over the past few years, my research has focused on Cactaceae transcriptomics. I earned my Ph.D. from the National Autonomous University of México, under the guidance of Dr. Svetlana Shishkova, studying the transcriptomics of root development in Pachycereus pringlei, an endemic columnar cactus from the Sonoran Desert. Collaborating with Dr. Teresa Terrazas (IB-UNAM), we investigated the role of KNOX genes in Cactaceae wood formation.
Currently, I am collaborating with Dr. Salvador Arias and Dr. Isaura Rosas (JB-UNAM) to explore flower development in epiphytic Cacti.

Since August 2023, I am working to consolidate my research group at the Autonomous University of Morelos, focusing on desert and xeric shrubland vegetation.
